Artist Statement:
Mona is my homage to millennial self discovery in the Midwest.
Inspired by American pop culture and visits to the Louvre and Rijksmuseum, this piece evolved into a collision of Dutch Impressionism and Pop Art of the 60’s.
The painting became a cathartic way to explore the culture that made me after becoming a corporate dropout.
The result is a joyful mashup of American celebrity (Chappell Roan, Pamela Anderson, and James B Jones). Creating a new American icon, Mona
